# How We Make Money

Last updated 4 October 2026

Some vendors pay us to be included on Payables Brief. That payment never affects the rankings or the review itself.

Some vendors pay us to verify and carry their pricing. Payment never changes a cost figure, a rank or a verdict.

## What vendors pay for

**Verified pricing listing.** A vendor that publishes no prices sends its real price list. We carry it on the vendor’s cost record and work out the monthly cost and cost per invoice at 1,000, 5,000 and 25,000 invoices a month, with the same method as every other vendor.

**Review.** A hands-on review: we get access to the product, use it, and publish a full review on the vendor’s record.

**Mention.** Consideration for guides and research where the product fits the topic, named and linked.

More detail is on the [For vendors page](https://payablesbrief.com/for-vendors/).

## What payment never buys

Payment never buys a different cost figure, a rank, a “Best for” line, a verdict, or the removal of a fee or a catch. Every computed figure comes from the vendor’s price list and the published [pricing methodology](https://payablesbrief.com/methodology/). Rank inside a list comes from fit and cost at the stated volume. There is no way to pay for a higher position.

## How paid relationships are labelled

Cost records and list entries with a paid relationship carry a “Paid listing” label. Paid mentions in guides and research are labelled “Sponsored”.

## Link policy

Vendor links are nofollow. A paid mention adds sponsored to the link.
